The SFC College of Health Sciences offers quality Education imbued with Christian values to develop health professionals to provide holistic health care in any setting.
History
Bachelor of Science in Nursing
February 1992
SFC was granted by DECS the initial permit to operate the 4-year Nursing Course.
1992-1993
Sixty eight (68) students were admitted with six (6) instructors under the stewardship of Dean Luna Cepeda.
March 1996
There were fifty six (56) pioneer graduates. Thirty one (31) out of forty eight (48) examinees successfully passed the November Nurse Licensure Examination.
November 1999
Ms. Sheila Roxas Tumolva got the 17th Place in the November 1999 Nurse Licensure Examination.
June 2001
The College of Health Sciences was created with the merging of College of Nursing and the School of Midwifery under the leadership of Dean Dennis Molina.
2003
Mrs. Evelyn C. Ong assumed as an Acting Dean.
May 15, 2004
Mrs. Rhodora D. Santos was appointed Dean.
May 31, 2005
The Nursing Program was granted by PACUCOA the Candidate Status.
August 16, 2005
Mrs. Ma. Victoria V. Formoso was appointed Dean.
November 12, 2007
Inauguration and Blessing of the SFC – Calamagui site for the College of Health Sciences.
January 16-18, 2008
The PACUCOA accrediting came to evaluate the Nursing and the Criminology Programs. Strengths and weaknesses were identified.
Graduate in Midwifery
1986
The School of Midwifery was established with Mrs. Rosalina Donato as first Principal.
1988
Full Government recognition was granted.
Mrs. Josefa Dauigoy became the Principal until 1998.
Ms. Deborah Ingaen from the first batch of graduates (1990), paced No. 15 in the 1988 Licensure Examination for Midwifery.
1991
Ms. Vilma Tumolva, Batch 1990, ranked 19th placer in the Licensure Examination.
1998
Mrs. Mariel Balanay was appointed Principal of Midwifery.
2001
The School of Midwifery and College of Nursing Merged creating the College of Health Sciences, under Dean Dennis Molina.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing
The SFC College of Nursing looks forward and aims to extend the frontiers of knowledge, develop skills and appropriate attitudes, through promotion of health, prevention of diseases/illness, preservation of life, restoration of health, rehabilitation and alleviation of suffering through nursing and caring.
The first two years provide basic education relative to para-medics curriculum. Completion of the first two years enables the students to pursue higher levels in the various fields of health-related education - nursing, pharmacy, medicine, etc.
Completion of the course assures the graduates to work as nurses in both government and private hospitals and clinics. They can also become staff members of medical or related enterprises such as Pharmacies, Health Care houses, Medical suppliers and similar undertakings.
Graduate in Midwifery
The two-year course in Midwifery prepares the student to become a skilled midwife. The course provides a sound working knowledge, techniques and procedures in order to enable the student to perform midwifery services as individuals or as members of a community health development team. Sensitivities are developed for the student to recognize human needs and ills of society in matters of health and to be able to enlighten and assist the community in line with their training.
The successful midwifery students have various opportunities of employment in hospitals, clinics, health-related auxiliary services. They become midwives, hospital attendants, laboratory technicians or aides, staff members in homes for the aged, nurseries and other health-care related establishments. They can also become team members of community health outreach of government or non-governmental organizations. Also, they can become private practitioners providing midwifery services in rural areas, staff of day care centers and nutrition education volunteers.
