College of Arts and Sciences
In the context of 3rd World Asia-Philippines in the Millennium era, the College of Arts and Sciences offers a Catholic Liberal Education using theoretico-practical interdisciplinary approaches to enable students to become patriotic Filipinos distinguished by progressive world views, critical thinking and jugment and social commitment to the Sciences and the Arts, grounded in the faith, in order to be great service to church and society.
The College of Education envisions the integral development of students to become teachers adequately equipped with the knowledge in the faith; in the arts and science and technology; skills and values which they would eventually transmit for the transformation or personal life and the society.
History
Arts and Sciences
The Bachelor of Arts and Education as a program started in 1962 with Reverend Sister Ignatin Parin, CFIC,as the first Dean of the College Department. Four years later, it produced seven graduates along with other students who finished BSED, BSEED and BCS. The college department continued offering these courses and in 1974, Rev. Sister Jacinta Jimenez became dean, Mrs. Leonida C. Almeda took place as dean with the separation of the of the College of Arts and Sciences from the college department in 1978. From then on, only Education and Bachelor of Arts were offered as programs in the CAS. Mrs. Almeda stayed as dean of CAS through 1987 before she became the dean of the graduate school. Mrs. Salome Cariño assumed office as dean next to Mrs. Almeda immediately after the latter assumed deanship at the graduate school. For eight ears, Mrs. Salome Cariño, (now Dr. Salome Cariño) was the dean of CAS. A year later she became Dean of Liberal Arts as a separate department until May 1995. Dr. Precilo L. Buslig assumed the deanship of the department in June 1, 1995 up to the present.
The College of Arts and Sciences has been offering Liberal Arts courses with English, Filipino, Math and Sciences majors field of concentrations. And in 1999, two additional major were approved by CHED. In SY 1999-2000, another 2 major field concentrations, Political Science and Economics were added making the CAS bigger in terms of its program offerings. In 2001, Bachelor of Science in Public Administration Program was opened. In June 2005, the Commission on Higher Education grantd government recognition to operate the course in Bachelor of Science in Public Administration. In June 2007 the Bachelor of Science in Psychology was recognized as another program of the College of Arts and Sciences and Education.
Today, the College of Arts and Sciences composes the biggest number of instructors. It is from this department that other departments of the college get instructors to impart knowledge in Philosophy, English, Religious Education, Science, Mathematics, Filipino and Social Sciences to their students.
As part of a bigger academic entity, the College of Arts and Sciences is a irreplaceable source of service.
Education Program
The College started its formal operation in school year 1951-1952. It started with a handful of college students enrolled in Elementary Education, known as Two-Year Junior Normal Home Economics Course (ETC-HE) and later termed in 1955 as Two-Year Junior Normal Course (ETC). After a few years the Three-Year combined Junior Normal and Junior Home Economics course leading to the title of Elementary Teachers Certificate in Home Economics (ETC-HE) was opened.
The coming of the Franciscan sisters gave an impetus to its enrolment and from then on there was a yearly increase of population. The major turning point of the college came as a result of the opening of the course in Education - the Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education (BSEED) in 1961. In 1965 the Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) was likewise opened. There was then a great demand for graduates finishing this course.

Bachelor of Science in Arts
The students acquires knowledge in the basic general education required by CHED for the completion of the Baccalaureate degree. This four-year course provides mastering a chosen major needed in the teaching profession, business and industry. The whole course prepares the students to enroll in higher levels of education leading to law, engineering or even medicine, providing them the basic education needed. At the option of the student, taking additional units in education may fully qualify them to teach in college and in the various fields or majors offered.
SFC AB graduates will be well-equipped to enter the various job openings for teachers, office assistants, program coordinators, lecturers, sales representatives, travel guides, tutors, laboratory assistant, and computer encoders. They will likewise be qualified to pursue higher studies in management or administration.

Completion of this course enables the graduate to become a teacher in the elementary (BEED) and in the high school (BSED) with majors. Added to this asset of a teacher is the training or knowledge gained in the 24-unit Religion subjects (Theology) which enables one to handle values education subjects in both elementary and high school. Career opportunities abound in both the public and private schools and in private tutoring ventures. An expanded horizon of job opportunities that awaits the successful graduate is in-charge of training programs of corporations, offices, businesses.
This course requires passing the entrance examination and a grade cut-off of 85%. The course covers the basic general education required by CHED for the completion of the Baccalaureate degree. It includes preparation for the teaching profession in the various fields or majors in the college.
